Consumer Credit Counseling of San Francisco is a non-profit service and a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). Founded in 1969, we provide debt management counseling, financial planning, housing education, budgeting, and credit report review services.

Our homegrown network of six regional offices, consisting of more than 120 Windows workstations and a UNIX server, had run its course. After suffering through repeated network outages and crashes, we realized we needed to migrate to a reliable, modern network operating system. We interviewed a variety of computer network consulting firms, and selected LanXpert Corporation to assist with our migration.

We wanted our new network to include these prerequisites: new server hardware/software, modern messaging system, secure remote access for telecommuters, integration with our new call center phone system, fast Internet access and firewall protection, centralized desktop management system, remote management capabilities, web server setup, database setup, regularly scheduled maintenance visits, and extensive user training and documentation.

LanXpert worked closely with our IT staff to carefully spec out server hardware and desktop systems, along with other needed network infrastructure devices. LanXpert carefully planned and tested the migration process, breaking down the installation into manageable phases.
LanXpert engineers successfully installed the network infrastructure, server hardware, and migrated existing end-user data to new desktops with minimal disruption. In fact, the installation coincided with a company-wide move to a new location. Despite a narrow timeframe for execution, LanXpert successfully completed the migration over the course of a long weekend.

After the new system went live, LanXpert engineers trained users on new operating procedures. LanXpert also installed the desktops in a locked-down fashion, which prevents end users from changing the computer configuration or installing unauthorized applications. LanXpert created a central repository of extensive documentation that CCC IT staff could quickly refer to in order to fix minor issues as they arose.

LanXpert provides weekly, scheduled maintenance visits that help us keep our network running at optimal efficiency. We feel strongly that these scheduled visits are crucial for maintaining our network integrity. Purchasing a network is similar to purchasing an automobile. The initial purchase is great, but in order to keep things working well, you need regular oil changes and tune-ups. Our scheduled maintenance agreements accomplish this.

Overall, our experience with LanXpert has been extremely positive. LanXpert’s extensive computer expertise, personalized technical support, and high responsiveness are outstanding. LanXpert’s continued advice and close involvement with our implementation project has helped our company integrate technology into our business processes to improve our bottom line.
